  I switched to Alabama CU because my old CU didn't have a branch here, so I joined based on Google reviews. Here is my experience: This credit union is way too slow and outdated in many ways when compared to competitors. You cannot transfer to external accounts even though they're linked for viewing (major inconvenience), you can only "view" external accounts... major inconvenience. You have to ask permission to do bill pay services (simple to do, but ridiculous to have to ask permission to begin with, not one other CU or bank I have dealt with does this, it's just a simple set up per the account holder), if you utilize the mobile deposit service, it takes 10 days to release the funds (I don't think I have ever experienced this type of wait before... we're not talking large deposits, just paychecks from employers, less than 1100.00) and yes, they will say "why don't you do direct deposit, however, if you work for a small private business that gives you a check in place of direct deposit because of staffing issues (COVID) and didn't want to be late paying you (true example), be prepared to wait a long time to have your funds released; or if you receive a check for any reason. They will say that you can go into the branch and deposit it, but why? The issue is convenience, right? People have better things to do than have to drive somewhere to deposit a check when they can use their phone via secure app. But it takes 10 days for this option; this is inconvenient for many people, including myself. The online platform is not user friendly compared to other banking systems, it's just choppy. Yes, if you spend time with it, anyone can figure it out and deal with it, but in today's day, not having a smooth platform for user convenience is probably not the best idea. Again, this is compared to competitors I have been with. I believe the only reason this CU has good ratings is simply due to the lack of options around southern Alabama (Daphne). I'm sure they have their loyalists who will swear by them, however, as a new account holder that had to find a CU around here because my previous CU didn't have a branch here, it has been nothing but an inconvenience when coming from outside banking services. But hey, who am I? They won't miss me and won't care about his review; keep these things in mind if you find yourself searching for a new bank or CU. I have been with them less than two months and there are too many inconveniences to keep me happy. Looking for another CU.

  I’m Austal employee and I use Alabama Credit Union because is supposed us credit union. First a few months ago I deposited a 401K check for emergency with COVID and they put in hold for 7 days. After that I go back to do a debit card They do the customer after me and don’t do my card.When they do my new card they put a wrong second name and refused gave me my Austal logo debit card they gave me a different because that’s logo is for business card but we have that logo card for 6 years. I think Alabama Credit Union only put attention to the people are friend for the for Latin or Spanish people they have trouble sorry for them if Alabama Credit Union have Austal employees we coming of different parts of the world
