Son and I were victims of an online Fraud scheme. Son has had this bank since 15 yrs old-Now 20. Son was tricked into depositing a fraudulent/phony $2400. check to our account-son has essentially very little money in account at the time-then was fraudulently tricked into sending a online transfer to the scammer. Alerus WRONGLY CASHED AND CLEARED a phony check with basicly no money in the account-Now holding us responsible for the over $2000.00 that the account is negative. Son is a struggling college student and is struggling to get by. ALERUS make the mistake cashing a PHONY CHECK,HAS NOT HELPED US WHATSOEVER.NOW CLOSED OUR ACCOUNT AND WANTING US TO PAY OVER $2000.00 IS MONEY THEY WRONGLY CLEARED. NOW THREATENING TO SEND TO COLLECTIONS-REALLY!!!! JUST RECIEVED LETTER FROM "CAROL" AT FRAUD DEPARTMENT SAYING-'THEY NOW CLOSED OUR ACCOUNT AND WILL SENT IT TO COLLECTIONS UNLESS PAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VERY VERY VERY UNFAIR AND WRONG.DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BANK IF THIS IS THE WAY THEY TREAT GOOD LOYAL CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!

Wow customer service! Today we met with Branch Mgr Karen Westerberg for a HELOC closing. I arrived a bit earlier than my husband and instead of having me wait in the lobby, she invited me into her office for friendly banter. She then was able to get me set up with a checking account to save an additional 1/4 point off the loan (person we had worked with not at this branch did not inform of this savings option). VERY personable, knowledgeable and caring individual. Would recommend Eden Prairie Alerus to my friends and family.
