      I initially opened this account because I worked nearby the bank and it was convenient. It has been four years since I have switched jobs, and now live and work at least 10 miles away from the nearest branch. I have stayed with them because of their superior customer service. When I have an issue, I can call and speak to a human being. They universally deliver the type of customer service that every business should deliver. It used to be inconvenient when I would need to deposit a check, but since Alerus took over there is mobile banking, so I take a picture, and it's in my account. I am able to withdraw cash without a surcharge from a huge selection of ATMs - so there is only one downside. If I need to withdraw a large sum of money, I have to go to a branch and their hours are somewhat limited. This rarely happens - and the exceptional service more than offsets this. I recommend Alerus for anyone who is tired of the poor customer service that the large banks frequently deliver.
