      Let me start off by saying that I’m a realtor and work with lenders ALL of the time. On a personal transaction, our awesome builder requested we prequal through Philip King at Ameris in addition to our normal lender. Communication with Phillip was terrible, letters we requested weren’t provided to us, and we were both incredibly disappointed and frustrated with his customer service. It was clear that he expected our business through what felt like an “old boys club” (especially when I called, as a female) and had no intention of earning it. I truly feel bad for anyone who is not as savvy in mortgage terminology and doesn’t know what numbers to question or when to push for better answers. Overall, can’t recommend one bit!

      Agreed to mortgage refinance with Fidelity. Found out on the day of closing that Fidelity was becoming Ameris. Now, a few months later and I still haven't received anything other than temporary payment coupons because my account is "pending." Can only pay through snail mail. Just found out today that my account has been sold to another bank. Person on the phone couldn't tell me who yet. Terrible customer service. Loan officer was great. Everything else about working with Ameris has been a nightmare.
