They have an absurd policy. If you receive $500 or more through Moneygram, they will charge you a check cashing fee, even though the sender has paid a fee. GO TO WALMART instead, they do NOT charge you for any amount and WILL give you cash. Walmart is the destroyer of Main St. America, but in this case, you have to deal with the devil.

In response to your negative review, this Is the agreement we have with moneygram regarding receive transactions. We are in the business of cashing checks and need much of our currency to do that. Therefore, we can't afford to give large receive amounts for free. We do give you the option to receive the full amount over $500.00 for free in the form of a money order. Most places won't charge you anything over $500.00 , but only give you a money order option. We give you both options.
