      Did you know if you received a check from a Bar Harbor Bank & Trust customer You, the recipient will be charged a 5 dollar check cashing FEE, if you dont have an account with them! What the heck?

      Probably the worst bank I've encountered so far. Their online app is total garbage, sometimes not working for days due to some kind of issue with servers, a direct deposit from the app takes 3 (!!) business days. The staff in Ellsworth branch seem very disorganized (the bank was empty and it took them over an hour to make me a debit card!). They forgot to mail the second card, forgot to let my husband set his pin. Seems like someone is leeching off the fact that there aren't that many banks in the area and people just don't have any other choice. The nonsense with the app is definitely my favorite - can't check my balance for several hours today. Not recommending this bank to anyone, actively looking for a new one to switch to.
