A few months ago I would have given Belgrade State Bank a 5 Star rating, but... I became and account holder a little over a year ago. When I opened my checking account I was told there were no fees and no minimum balance. However, these terms have changed considerably over the past several months. First off a minimum balance is now required, or your checking account will be closed. If your balance is zero for 30 days your account will be automatically closed. NOW TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, as of this month they have added a $5 per month / $60 per year statement fee! That's right! The statement the bank is required to provide to you is now being charged to you at a rate of $5 per month / $60 per year! What they are saying is the monthly statement they are required by law to provide to you they are now going to charge you for! Sadly, customer satisfaction no longer seems to apply! A few months ago I would have recommended this bank over any of our local competitors, but now I would say if you are looking to open a checking account compare Unico, US Bank Commerce Bank and First State Bank, not to mention local credit unions, before making a decision. Sadly , as is reflected here, this is the type of business model which no longer considers customer satisfaction. A employee took the time to help me with some of these issues so I have upped the rating to 3 Stars.
