  Five years ago, during a moment of banking frustration, I had the good fortune to meet the business team at Biddeford Savings. I had been banking with a ubiquitous, Canadian bank that offered scant customer service and a reliance on outdated policies that made it difficult to transact business in the digital age. One afternoon after hearing my complaints, a business associate referred me to Biddeford Savings. Luckily, I decided to take a flyer. Since then, Biddeford has won all of my business. At first, I met Dan Colby and Laurie Warchol—both business specialists and stellar bankers. Laurie became my main point of contact. From day one, she has been the consummate professional: providing hands-on, personalized, customer service coupled with a deep understanding of my company's needs. Her guidance was invaluable when it came time to navigate the SBA’s maze of programs during the pandemic. In fact, she was the linchpin and helped insure that our applications' were complete and ready for review. The Bank's commitment to service is evident at every level. Even my branch manager, Marcus Buzulchuck, has become an indispensable helpmate with day to day banking activities. I once wondered why Biddeford Savings is so capable when so many other banks fall short: it's the culture. Employees are empowered to make decisions and encouraged to actively participate in their clients’ success.
