Against our better judgment, we decided to work with C&F mortgage. Our realtor insisted that working with a local mortgage, and specifically this one, was the best. 1) Firstly, we're both 800+ credit score consumers. Yet, they made us shop around with other mortgage companies before they would give us a "competitive offer". They started us off at 3.25 APR when rates were 2.75. Literally made us apply with other companies before they would drop their rate. Are we used car shopping or purchasing a home? 2) Numerous documentation errors and clerical oversights that ended up costing us some big $. 3) Remember the whole thing about working with local lenders is the best? They sold our mortgage before the first payment was due. Now, I'm sitting here recreating yet another account for our mortgage because C&F is in the mortgage flipping business. Do not recommend C&F Mortgage Corp.
