  We were attempting to do taxes online , helping our 18 year old do his taxes for the first time ever. We felt unsure that we were doing it correctly , through out the week we had called Check City and we were told they offered free estimates, so we decide to head down to Check City , as I said we had called prior and been told they offer free estimates. We arrive , walk in , and can see that the building is completely empty, no other customers inside. We walk up the window and I politely tell the young lady that we were attempting to do his taxes online but we were weary that perhaps we were doing something wrong and it would be best to have a free estimate with them because if the numbers were wrong on our end online at home, then we would be saving ourselves a lot of grief and we would be glad to file with them (Check City) instead of online by ourselves. The girl was slouched up against the counter and she looked me dead center in the eye with my son standing next to me and she (Anne) said : "No. I won't do the free estimate if you're thinking of doing it online if it's the same. Because at that point I would be working for free"....😳 Anne said. I was shocked. Again there was NOBODY else in the establishment. No other customers. Just her and 2 other women standing behind the counter. After she said it she just starred at me. My jaw was on the floor. I would have gladly paid the $60 and been happy to use their services if their estimate was better than what we were seeing online because I am 100% sure we were making a mistake online. I am absolutely appalled. Her name is ANNE Durango and Warm Springs. I'm also sure she does not work for free. It was pretty embarassing when she said that because my son works usually 6 days a week, tons of double shifts and has had a total of 3 raises since he started last June....he goes above and beyond and never complains. So I was pretty embarrassed for her as a grown woman to be saying that. 👀👀👀👀 Again , there was nobody else in line. No other customers. And we would have GLADLY done our taxes there after the free quote because I was 100% sure we were doing something wrong online. Long story short.... we went across the street and filed at H&R Block on Durango. Kevin is the name of the manager there and he was an absolute pleasure. We gladly paid the $80 and thank goodness because indeed , we got a larger return than what my online attempt was showing me. Thank you to Kevin and the team at H&R Block for turning this sour experience into something with a positive outcome at the end. Grateful. 🙏
