      This company which manages Harvard Village Apartments requires their leasing team to use some platform to scan government issue IDs prior to taking tour however, they do not tell you that when stating an ID is needed to tour. The signage states "Government issue ID to tour" not "Government issue ID must scan to tour". My husband and I are moving to DC from Seattle area due to military orders, my residency is in Florida and recently renewed my Florida ID back in July. We go into the office for a tour and the leasing consultant could not get my ID to register in her iPad/leasing platform. She called over Carole, the Property Manager, and had her try without success. She was unable to get my Florida ID to register in whatever system they were using. They were able to scan my husband's military ID. Carole then states they can't tour due to the ID not scanning. Carole then ask if i have another government issued ID!!! Like who walks around with all their IDs and who normal have more than one. I have more than one but I traveled from out of state and would not bring a passport with me when traveling within the country. This Florida ID was used to get me through TSA and to take tours all day at other communities. What made me angry is that Carole solely relied on her tech device instead of using her eyes and common since to make a judgement call that my ID was legal. We live in a world of technology now but we have to also use our brains. My Florida ID had holograms and all the other copy proof marks on the ID (Sample photo provided). In addition, she could have still used technology by googling what a Florida ID looks like but no instead we were denied the opportunity to tour due to some faulty, not up-to-date system. I should have been allowed to tour with my proper identification and not refused based on a technicality. If this is a company wide policy, to require IDs to properly scan before touring then it needs to be examined in more depth/and system updated to be able to read all IDs from all states.
