I am a real estate broker who was representing a seller on a transaction where the buyer was using Citywide Home Loans. We were supposed to close on August 16th, so the seller moved out of her house on the 14th. On the 15th, I was told that the loan would not close the next day. By now, the seller had paid up front for her hotel and all of her furniture was in a pod, so she was incurring expenses unnecessarily. She didn't have much money so this was a huge hardship for her. To make a long story short, after multiple delays due to Citywide's total incompetence and lack of communication, we had to move the loan to another lender to get the transaction closed. We finally got it closed 2 months after our original closing date. It only took the other lender 2 weeks to process the loan. To be fair, Citywide did end up paying about $1100 towards the seller's hotel room. Although that didn't come close to the added expenses and inconvenience incurred by the seller, at least it was something. I gave them 1 star because they did this. I have instructed my fellow agents NOT to accept any offers from, or let their buyers use Citywide Home Loans. I don't understand how they can stay in business, honestly.
