      As a trust management company I would have assumed this company would excel at communication. As their role is to navigate the settling of estates and remove that burden from trustees, I would imagine they are very experienced in communicating a timeline of events that need to occur and regular reporting of where in that timeline the trust falls. Unfortunately that is not what I experienced over the last year. Beyond the initial letter introducing the trust manager, the trustees received quarterly reports in what I would describe as a statement format. We received no communication whatsoever about what those actually meant, what the next step might be, etc. For example, I knew property sold because I saw the sale on Zillow, not because I was notified by the trust company. Many expenses on the statements were without any sort of description, simply listed as “invoice paid”, leaving trustees to guess what the money was being spent on. A quick email or one-page note describing the highlights of the past 3 months and the plans for the next 3 would have gone a long way to help us understand. Perhaps this is typical of this sort of company, I’ll admit this is my only experience in this area and therefore have nothing to compare to, but to my mind a service that costs as much as this would include much more communication. We are finally nearing the end of our business with the trust company and myself and my family have had several questions about what remains to be done to close this out and we all seem to get are vague answers or even completely different answers. I don’t know if this is in an attempt to stall in order to collect another month of fees or if it demonstrates a lack of organization on their part. All in all, I would do my research before doing business with this company. I can’t speak to how they care for the person setting up a trust but they fall short when it comes to caring for the trustees.
