  I have been in real estate for 20+ years. I was fortunate enough to have stumbled across Downtown Title Services a number of years ago. They are my "Go To" title company because of their knowledge in this industry. Joy and her professional staff take care of the transaction from start to finish. I would refer Downtown Title Services without hesitation!! Thank you again DTS!! Another job well done today!!

  I sold a house in Deland moving cross country. The person who I dealt with was very friendly and I even stopped by prior to the closing to drop off documents I had that would expedite the process. I will note that this was an out of state closing. First off, they tried to walk me through the signatures on the docs, over the phone, which they e-mailed to me vs. sending me originals. They actually missed one doc to sign and I caught it (I was a loan officer in a previous life) which would have pushed the closing. Second, I was told to go to UPS for a notary vs. setting up a mobile notary or contacting another title company in AZ. I spent a day frantically trying to find a notary where there were 2 witnesses to sign. I actually was able to find a great title company in Mesa (Empire Title). They brought me in, notarized the docs, and reviewed them free of charge. Third, they also gave me an overnight label to send back the docs overnight due to the time frame. The closing was scheduled for 12PM EST next day, and the label gave guaranteed overnight delivery for 4:30PM next day. I had to pay $60 out of pocket to get the docs there prior to the closing. Through my agent, this was brought to there attention; everything above. Not one follow up call, not one apology, and they didn't even reimburse for the overnight shipping costs. They got paid on the closing costs and it was just another day for them. The agent I have worked with three times in AZ said it was "the most unprofessional closing he had ever seen". If I ever buy or sell another home in Florida, I will not use them again. Update: After response from the associate, 3 rebuttals. 1. DTS did offer to have me pre-sign the docs but at that time we both agreed that the numbers would change and that I would be required to resign the docs anyway. It was agreed that pre-signing would be pointless. 2. FedEx confirmed for me the day I was sending the docs, as stated, there was no guarantee the docs would get there any earlier than 4:30 PM as stated on the label. He also scanned the label to confirm that. This is why I purchased guaranteed delivery overnight prior to the closing the next day (11:30 AM) 3. I have multiple e-mails and texts from my agent stating she requested compensation on my behalf at closing for the issues expressed in the review.

  Hi Freddy, thank you for the valuable feedback. I did research your file (and I remember you as well, you were very nice when you came into the office). First, I am sorry that your closing experience was not 100% top notch. If you recall, we did offer to have you pre-sign the documents while you were in town and we were going to hold them in escrow until the date of closing. You chose not to do this. Unfortunately, as a small, local title company we do not have the ability to vet mobile closers/notaries in other states so we inform people ahead of time, that they will have to find a notary. As you stated, we did offer to walk you through signing the documents. As the seller, the number of documents that you sign are limited and the fastest means of delivery is via email. Rest assured that all of the documents that you received via email were the original documents. As stated, I reviewed the entire file and emails and no document was missed and the closing was never in danger of delay, perhaps you are mistaking this with some other transaction? Finally, the overnight label did say deliver by 4:30 PM but all of our deliveries from this carrier are delivered by 11:00 AM because that is the time that we are scheduled on their route. Unfortunately, we did not know that you were concerned about this and we had no idea that you paid for your own delivery until the next day after your package had arrived. I am disappointed that someone in Arizona, who has never worked with us and has never spoken to us about this closing, would make such a comment about this company. As you can see from other reviews, we have a very good reputation for customer service. That said, I will review our procedures for "mail-away" closings and try to ensure that in the future we offer the best service possible. I will also reimburse you for the overnight charges that you expended.
