  Edit: Alexandra reached out to me regarding my review and clarified with me that the consultation was to let me know that I could adjust my federal and state tax forms to zero additional withholdings and that would be very close to the appropriate taxes being withheld. We did not have enough time during the consult to figure out why the IRS withholding calculator showed me having a large refund but wanted me to put additional withholdings on my W4; however she explained that to get an a accurate amount for my taxes for this year she would have to do calculations for $450 to extrapolate what my income would be and the taxes owed. That is why she said zero additional withholdings would be largely accurate. She also offered to refund my consultation fee and that was kind of her to offer. I started a new job and noticed my payroll deductions for taxes seemed off from what I had previously deducted from my paycheck. I had done the IRS calculator and reached out to my employer on my own and couldn't resolve the discrepancy. I talked to a free tax consultant through my work who gave me a vague answer that reducing my additional withholdings on my W4 would "probably be fine" so I decided to try a consultation. I was disappointed to pay $63 for a 15 minute consultation where I was told the same thing by the free tax consultant, that it would probably be fine. If I wanted to have them actually look at the numbers and figure out exactly what my deductions should be, they wanted another $450. I felt like my questions were not answered and the rate is high. My best friend in the Bay Area had her taxes filed for $220 and she got married, had a baby, and bought a house last year. Maybe this service is better for wealthy clients or businesses, but I wouldn't recommend it for the average person at their rate.
