I'm not from Shelbyville but need to get a paper notarized for my handicap daughter, who is in a wheelchair, I went to PNC first and they wouldn't do it because she didn't have an account so I wheeled her into First Merchant and they were so nice. They notarized the paper and didn't even charge us. If I lived in the area would definitely bank here.

Very difficult to close an account. I withdrew all my money with the intent to close. Shortly therafter I got hit with fees for having no balance, followed by additional daily fees for being negative. I couldn't close online. I went in to close in person. I offered to pay all fees to close the account but was told I'd have to come in another day no matter what method I used to pay fees.

This bank bought out another bank and did a complete remodel and now has a nice new building inside and out a couple of years ago. The staff seems to be helpful with your banking needs such as checking, savings, and loans. The staff did not know how to wire money out of the country, even though I explain to them how to do it, they still had a lot of issues attempting it. But for normal daily banking use that most people want they seem to be fine. They are located right on the corner of the circle so you can park in front or in the parking lot in the rear. And the ATM and drive-thru window is on the side of the building.
