I went to the Fairfield branch to wire funds to the Title Company for the purchase of my home. I arrived at 9 am and the transaction was date stamped at 9:26 am. At noon time I checked my account and the funds had not been transferred yet. I called the CU concerned that the funds had not been transferred. I was told they would be there by close of business, 6PM. My closing was scheduled for 5:30 pm so I was concerned, but was assured by the CU everything would be OK. The title company called at 3 pm stating they had not yet received the funds. So at 4 pm, I went back to the CU and spoke with the assistant Branch Mgr. I found out that the bank for the Title company had rejected the wire transfer because they had input the name of the bank as the owner of the account rather than the name of the Title company. Not sure how long the rejection sat at the CU waiting to be corrected before I arrived to get things straightened out. By 4:30 pm the assistant Branch Mgr assured me the funds had been correctly transferred. The title company called me at 4:45 to let me know they finally had the funds and were ready for the closing. This was very frustrating and aggravating that I basically had to make sure everyone was doing their job. So glad I did not get to the closing only to find out the funds had not been transferred and then have to reschedule everything for a new date. The icing on the cake was when I got home Friday evening and checked my account, there was a $20.00 wire transfer fee that I had not been told about. It was not itemized on my receipt for the wire transfer, no one told me there was a fee associated with a wire transfer. No additional receipt for the $20.00 charge was provided. They just took it from my account. Just one more bit of additional incompetence by the CU. Update 6/9/22 The CU reached out to me and apologized for the problems and removed the $20.00 fee. After this situation we went to the Reading Rd office to open a new account. The service we received at Reading Rd was outstanding. Top notch customer care. Based on the experience at Reading Rd, plus the apology and fee removal, my faith in the CU has been restored. Being a member for over 40 years I was afraid that the CU had grown too much and had become just another BIG BANK, and had considered the possibility I may need to find a new financial institution to do business with. I am happy to say that I am a member of the CU and that they take good care of their members. Thank you.
