Update: I am leaving my original review up, but I have changed my rating to a 4. I had to file a complaint with the BBB, but after I did, I was contacted within one day with a full refund of the charges. I am disappointed with their customer service, but I no longer feel the need to close my account. I would also recommend that since they already email members (including me), that they should at least send an email that says that they are making changes to fees (instead of just a letter), but I am satisfied with the resolution to my issue. I opened this account in 2016 with my Oma right after I turned 15 and she told me that this credit union is an honest bank that doesn’t bankrupt you with hidden fees. She had been a customer since union camp, long before I was born, and was friends with the people at the bank until she died. Well it’s 2022 and I am about to enter my senior year in college with $3 in my bank account because I have been charged $497 in ‘overdraft fees’ in four months. Since I opened the account in 2016 I have put all of my money into my savings account and Ga heritage pulled the money straight out of my savings with no fees charged (which I was told to do by the banker who set up my account). Well apparently that changed on March 1st, and I started getting charged a $7 overdraft fee every time they pulled money from my savings into my checking account. In four months they have charged me 71 times. I never noticed until today, and when I called I was told that we were informed via a single letter sent in the mail about these changes. Well I never got the letter. You’d think for a bank that constantly emails you and post news on their websites that they maybe would’ve mentioned that change, but you’d be wrong. After my information got ‘passed to a supervisor’ (who I could hear talking in the background of the phone call), I was told that because I had logged into my mobile account, I could only be refunded five courtesy reversals, a grand total of $35. Who knows if I’ll even get that, given that I had to refuse that money in order to get my problem passed further up the chain of command. I am supposed to get a call in the morning to see if I can get any more of my money back. Unfortunately I think that the only option to maybe get my money back will be filing a report with the Better Business Bureau.

They're awesome. I've been using them for years. There service is outstanding and their rates and services are better than anyone else. I just went to Google to get their number and it says they are busier than usual. But, I called anyway, and the entire transaction was done in no time at all.

I have been a member for over 20 years. I use to love this credit union But now!!! They charge me 10.00 to replace my debit card that was lost when other banks are free. Now they upgraded me from free checking to paying 4.97 a month even w/ direct deposit. Customer service over the phone unacceptable. When u call u reach their call center which in the same building as the credit union. U don't have access to the person that screwed up ur account. U have to tell ur problem to the call center agent she has no clue as to what's going on. Then if u lucky she will give the person the message. U may or may not get a call back. But if u do u gotta explain the issue all over again to a person that didn't help in the 1st then when u get the person u gotta explain URSELF again. This is just to much. This is so frustrating & stressful. Im throwing in the towel w/ this credit union.

Dear J. Campbell, We are sorry to hear of your negative experience with us and do not want to lose a 20 year member. Your membership is important to us. Our Call Center team is highly trained to assist members by phone. They also have the ability to transfer a member to their desired Member Service Representative so they may speak to them directly with any account issues or questions. Charging fees are a common practice by all banks and credit union in order to offset costs. If it is not too late, we encourage you to visit your preferred branch and speak with the Branch Manager. They’ll be happy to discuss any account concerns you may have and hopefully keep your membership.
