I have rented vehicles multiple times in the past when we have gone out of town or when our vehicles had to be put into a shop for repairs. Never have I ever been asked to provide a utility bill to be able to rent a vehicle. Even when I called ahead to check if a vehicle was avaliable, they never told me that I needed to bring a utility bill as proof of residence. This goes right up there with one of the most ridiculous request that I've ever had to experience. I was so shocked that a car rental business would even ask for this since they're already asking for a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a credit card. I'm almost 100% positive that no one carries a copy of their utility bill when they go out of town and need to rent a vehicle.
