  Automatically assigned me expensive title insurance, although I later learned that this was optional in my case, as I was a cash buyer. Also, missed a $400 closing cost - to my favor - which I had to catch and have corrected.

  Hi Mark. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. We do include the optional owner's title insurance premium in the initial numbers to avoid having it appear that fees are being added over the course of the closing and people can elect against receiving the coverage anytime up to and including the day of closing. The closing statement always includes the word "optional" after the owner's title insurance premium on the closing statement. I know that you did contact our office about cancelling the owner's title insurance weeks after closing, however it was unfortunately too late at that point as the policy was already issued and the premium paid to the title insurance company. I was able to provide you a waiver of our fees which did offset almost the entire the cost of the insurance policy, so you did receive owner's title insurance coverage at almost no cost. I wish that you would have expressed these concerns directly to me so we could have tried to correct the situation for you.

  Jay was phenomenal and helped ease our first time homebuyer worries. He was responsive and answered all questions so we could understand. He is so easy to work with. My husband and I highly recommend him!
