  Would not recommend doing business with the sales manager at Gateway community. My wife and I had a very bad experience from GO. We spent five months following the process of our home we were having built from the design to picking our lot. So as the home was coming closer to completion, the home didn't appraise for what they were asking. So instead of doing what's right and lowering the price point for our family they tried to pull a fast one on us and give us a very shady offer. Offering to buy out our PMI insurance on a 20% conventional loan which doesn't make sense being its 20% down conventional loan? With that being said 3 weeks before our closing date highland continued to drag there feet trying to get the appraiser back out to apparently change his/her appraisal on the property. Went on for over a week and half with no answers and Chad avoiding me at all cost and arguing over sales price, when the home appraised for under 8k of sale price. And it's not because upgrades didn't appraise we only had maybe $3500.00 in upgrades. That being said with the customer service and the way we were being treated and handled as customers that were referred to highland to build our home. We canceled our contract and received a full refund of our ernest money and starting over with a new builder that cares about making it right for the customer. Highland home is over priced for 1848 sqft home wanting $149 per sqft. Its outrageous. What highland website says they stand for is not accurate. At least not in the Gateway community in forney. Also watch out for the 1.2 million sqft distribution hub they are trying to build right off 80 and the Gateway bridge. I probably left out other issues that we had to deal with. Ultimately they wanted and tried to screw my family and I, and we seen who called who's bluff!! Was very sad and devastating to half to walk away from something we put so much time and thought into. Shows just how much Highland really cares about doing what's right by the customer. Not to mention our loan officer new the type of loan and money being put down on home, and still went ahead and offered us the shady offer they put together and presented. And who would tell the customer during construction that maybe we aren't the builder for you? Because us being upset on how the jobsite looked and our home just sitting with now process being made except trash everywhere and stacks of bricks sinking in mud and knocked over everywhere. That came from the actual builder himself.

  Very helpful team and excellent home builder. Reasonable upgrade option pricing. I would recommend you make sure you know exactly what the price is before filling anything out and committing to the 3k down payment. Don't forgot to try and drive the price down it will seem like they can't budge but it's very possible to get a better price.
