  I do very little business with this bank, but have been in there quite a few times, i have nothing negative to say, everyone has smiles on their faces and is very polite and friendly,

  Went here to cash some of my change a couple of days ago. Immediately when I walk in the door, the lady gives me a rude look...I don't think much of it. I walk up and say, "Hi, I'd like to cash my change here." She just looks at me again and goes, "Do you have an account with us?" "No I don't." Then she says "Okay well that'll be 2% if the amount is over $100, or $5 if it is less than $100." I go get my $5 out of my car and come back. She says something along the lines of, "So do you have an account anywhere in town?" I reply, "No I do online banking with Ally bank." She replies, "Okay but do you go to a physical bank here in Monroe, like Alliant bank for direct depositing?" "No...I do online banking and direct depositing ...with Ally Bank." She goes, "So you don't have a bank account anywhere at a physical bank?" At this point I am just standing there, extremely confused as to why she was not making the connection that I do online banking with Ally...I consider just politely telling her nevermind, I will take care of it somewhere else....but before I can say anything, she angrily huffed and snatched the bag from the table and stomps to the back room to count it (don't they have machines for that?). I'm extremely confused and irritated at this point, with how rude this lady was being simply because I did not have an account with them. I pay her the $5 and take my cash and leave...definitely never going to HNB again, because in a small town like Monroe, if they don't know you, they don't like you. Exactly why I do online banking so I don't have to deal with rude people like that.

  I am very sorry that you had that experience at HNB, that is not normal operating procedure for HNB as we strive for excellent customer service with whoever walks through our door. We will certainly track down the employee(s) that are responsible and retrain them on friendly, superior service that is the norm for HNB.
