  I just spoke with an agent about a mobile check deposit having an extended hold and I am very unhappy with how our conversation went. My account is fairly new and when I signed up for this credit union I was informed about how great their mobile deposits are and how quickly they clear. I have deposited a few checks over the last few months through the app and every one of them has cleared within a reasonable time. This check has not cleared after a few days and when logged into my account, I see if there’s an extended hold on my check. I called and spoke to an associate who then tells me that my account does not have enough history to clear a mobile check. This is the first time I am hearing of this policy as I was never informed of this being a potential issue. When I questioned it she came off very insulting as if because I am a new client I do not get that fast mobile deposit asset they were so great at telling me about when I signed up. When I told the associate that I was not happy about this she then changed her story and said the check was being held to make sure there were funds in the other account that the check was written from. So because I questioned it, the story of why my check was being held, changed. The inconsistency of her story shows that this credit union is not the right one for me. This is my money and to be given the run around about when my money will clear is unacceptable. I do have multiple banks and credit unions and only opened an account here with HRCU because my car loan is through them. Safe to say, I will be refinancing through another bank and leaving HRCU as soon as possible. I do not like getting the run around about when checks will clear and the story on why it’s being held change. If she said in the first place, we want to confirm funds, I would have 100% understood but the fact the story changed. Is unacceptable. First it was because I have a new account, Then it’s because I haven’t used mobile deposit enough, and THEN it was because they have to confirm funds from the person who wrote the check. Too many stories. Also - as I am typing this. They cleared my check. So I guess I will give them 2 stars instead of 1. They clear my check basically because I called but that’s still unacceptable to give someone the run around in regards to money. We should be able to trust our banks/credit unions and believe the policies we are told and I do not have trust in HRCU policies.
