  I always have a checking and savings account at one bank. I put most of my money in my savings and when a check/debit comes in I can just make a simple transfer. I just opened both accounts here and if the money isn’t in your checking account they will charge you 30. Even if you have it and transfer it the same day!!! They don’t care. They said it’s ‘live’. Whatever that means. I never heard of such a policy. I will be closing my accounts as I cannot live under that regime. I don’t make much money so 30 bucks is a lot. I don’t like to keep all my money in my checking as it’s easier to spend it. I have a lot of debits and can’t keep track of them all so it’s easier to transfer the funds. I wish I had known this prior to opening my accounts

  Hi Deirdre, we apologize that this happened. Our system is “live” which means in real time. If you use your debit card, the funds come out of your checking account only. The system does not look at your savings account totals. It is an automated process so if the funds are not there, and you have courtesy pay, the system automatically charges a $30 NSF fee (Non Sufficient Funds). I will send your message to our operations department on Monday and maybe they can waive the fee this time, as it’s your first time and you didn’t understand the policy. Again, our apologies. We do value our Members and hope you consider staying with us.
