  Carolyn was doing the closing for the sale of the property for me. She was professional, very nice, and everything went smooth. Everyone at the Jefferson Title company is a pleasure to deal with.

  Avoid Jefferson Title if you want to close your real estate transaction on time! Our experience with Jefferson Title left much to be desired: their sloppy quality control and poor communication forced us to delay – at the last minute -- our closing date by FOUR days, resulting in loss of rental income for the buyer, and the seller having to delay paying off their loan on time as planned. Lowlights of our Jefferson Title (JT) experience: 1. Lost Documents/Late Notifications JT informed me ON CLOSING DAY, one hour before the window closed, that they would not be able to close our transaction as planned because they could not locate the closing documents that we had signed with a mobile notary (appointed by JT) two days prior. Later that same day, they told me that they found the documents but one was missing initials, so they'd have to e-send them the next day for us to e-sign. Yet earlier on, they'd told our lender that they could only accept "wet signatures." 2. Poor/Lack of Communication We didn't know what time the mobile notary would be coming to our house until the morning of our appointment. And, despite giving JT windows when we;d be unavailable, the mobile notary was scheduled for one of those windows, forcing me to skip out on a critical international meeting! My lender also called me on closing day to complain that they hadn't been able to get any responses from JT for the past 24 hours, and as result, we'd likely miss our closing date. We and our lender worked very hard to close on time, providing requested documents and signatures promptly, etc, but all of our hard work was for naught in this instance. Caveat emptor!

  I represented the Buyers in a transaction in which the lender worked extremely hard to get the loan docs to Jefferson Title for an earlier closing since my clients were living in a hotel until their sale closed. Jefferson title closed days later for reasons that could’ve easily been avoided. My clients and I were unsatisfied with their service & lack of communication. Would not recommend their company.
