      My 2020 federal return was prepared incorrectly. Instead of using the standard deduction as instructed, itemized amounts that were not mine, were instead used, resulting in a refund to me. I didn't catch the error until after the return was filed. I had an amended return prepared elsewhere and I paid the refunded amount plus the corrected tax owed.

      I have used this firm for several years. The previous owner, Jim Thigpen, was a top notch accountant. Sadly he passed away a few years ago. The woman who took over the practice is Jessica Mertens. This year working with her on my taxes has been a nightmare. I have honestly never had an encounter with anyone like this in my life. Truly bizarre. She repeatedly lied to me, did not return phone calls or emails, missed the filing deadline, and filed things with the IRS without my knowledge or permission. She is dangerous and should not be allowed to handle anyone's money or finances. I am in the process of filing complaints with the State and Federal authorities. Thank God Jim isn't alive to see what this woman is doing to his reputation.
