  Jim Nelson was my parent's financial advisor and when I had to handle their estate after they passed away I felt that he was primarily looking after his best interests rather then advising on my family's behalf. He was personable face-to-face and on the phone, but his actions were very slow. Communication seemed to be poor internally at the company eg - they could not locate previously sent docs, sent me TINs and account numbers with typos, took an extremely long time to send checks to pay for estate expenses. He also provided very poor tax advice while setting up my parents financial assets and cost my family tens of thousands of dollars to avoidable/incorrectly titled real estate assets. In my opinion, it is times like these when a financial advisor should really step up and earn their commissions. I felt it was quite the contrary with Mr Nelson and I constantly had to follow up with him to get things completed. But WORST of all when I finally had enough with dealing with LPL and decided to switch the estate over to my personal advisor Mr Nelson decided to provide me with his personal opinion of what my deceased parents would think of the situation. He told me via text message that my parent's would be disappointed in me (This was also after I explained to him that in the event something happened to me, I wanted things to be easier for my pregnant wife). I am in my mid thirties and lost both my parents within a period of three years and Mr Nelson has the right to think of whatever he thinks of me. But to infer judgment of my deceased parents on me is completely and utterly the most insensitive and unprofessional thing that I have ever come across in my career.
