      Sure, if you want to pay $15 for a debit card replacement. That’s just ridiculous.

      We area small credit union and the $15 that we collect for "lost" cards does not cover the full cost that the credit union is charged for the production and mailing of the cards. The initial cards, defected cards, expired cards, and compromised cards are paid for by the credit union. The $15 fee to replace a card lost by the member is also to encourage members to be very careful about keeping up with their cards. A "lost" card in the wrong hands can cost the credit union thousands of dollars in fraudulent charges that we have to cover for the members. I hope this helps put the $15 fee for replacing "lost" cards in prospective for you. we have to control costs where we can.
