I’ve been a customer with peoples for over 20 years until yesterday. They changed one of my accounts to a fee based account unbeknownst to me. I keep a high balance so they could just switch the account to a non fee based account which they did after I challenged a $29!charge. They refused to credit my account the $29. The rep said they could not call customers for this change and then charge because they had too many customers. Well they have one less now. Really unbelievable after all these years of relationship. The bank manger would not even talk to me over this issue.

If your thinking about opening an account with this company, believe the negative reviews and RECONSIDER. They will treat you seemingly Ok when you're making a deposit into their bank. However any other routine business needs, it's an inconvenience. Called the Newton branch today about Notary services. Becky who clearly needs to be retrained in customer service, told me I would need to come when I'm not disrupting anyone's lunch. Then, I spoke to Sky who wasn't interested in helping anyone either. Both were quite rude and unprofessional. This branch is the WORST overall when it comes to customer service, period. If I don't close all of my accounts first, I'll definitely drive to the Conover branch for any banking needs. They at least have an interest in helping customers.
