  Our experience with Platinum Home Mortgage was very frustrating. It took them 4 months to underwrite and close the refinance of a small loan on a second home. There was plenty of equity in the house to support the loan. The borrowers had solid income and net worth. But Platinum was very slow (attributable they say to heavy loan volume). Their underwriters had a difficult time understanding non-traditional sources of income and wealth and repeatedly came back to us asking for additional information, which was usually redundant or irrelevant. Finally, a VP of underwriting got involved and was able to break the logjam and complete the loan approval 3 months after we started the loan application process. Then their closing disclosure document had several mistakes in it that took more time to get corrected. I understand that 2020 was a busy year in the mortgage business. But if mortgage brokers/lenders such as Platinum are unable to deliver on a timely, accurate and user-friendly basis, they should expect negative reviews like this.

  Compared to 3.5 years ago, this experience with PHMC was much better. Perry Silverman and Jamie Conlon were great to work with during our refinance. Both were quick to respond to any questions we had. Even though they are swamped with business now due to the low rates, they still were able to close the deal in approximately 6 weeks.
