  Words cannot express my frustration with dealing with SAFCC. Long story short: do not believe anything they say. They are incompetent amateurs. I attempted to open an account in order to obtain a car loan. I have >800 credit score, so was promised on the phone a 1.79% interest rate if I set up direct deposit, opened an account, and obtained a loan >$10k. Great! WRONG. Once I got into the branch, I was told that actually, the rate would be 2.34% as the direct deposit from my paycheck had to have already been set up (I was not told this on the phone) to be eligible for the promotional rate. Oh well, still a good rate, so even though I was frustrated I moved forward. After going into the branch, waiting 45 minutes, then having two follow-up phone calls where the loan was finally approved and we opened my account and I notified the seller that he should expect payment in the next 24 hrs, Alondra called me and said "oh is this car >10 years old? we don't do any loans for that, but you can take out a personal loan at a much higher interest rate..." (the vehicle is a low mileage 2004 Porsche 911). So after wasting many hours of my time and jeopardizing the purchase of the vehicle, the entire process was doomed from the start and could have been avoided simply from the first phone call. Lesson: take your money elsewhere.
