      Waste of time; killed my whole lunch break here to find out they can’t take a personal check to open account without holding the funds for 7 days. It’s a shame because they’re close to my office, but now I’m not going to get to eat.

      I have been saying for years I was going to leave my big bank for a local one and the time finally came yesterday. I have used SouthStar for years on the mortgage side however had not made the switch with my checking accounts. Joyce took great care of me and was so welcoming to my new local banking family. I am thrilled to have made the move. Local and home town is definitely better in my opinion. I like having a personal relationship with my bank ... I had lost that and am so happy to finally get that back.
