  The staff is awesome and friendly. I got the lowest rate around for my motorcycle loan. They know me by name even though I don't go in that often. I recommended this bank to all my friends. Its basically a local credit union in the guise of a bank.

  We have been customers for over 4 years and have three accounts with South State. We recently came into a large sum of money that we deposited into our account. The money was in the account of the other bank, simple to verify by telephone. They held the funds for 2 weeks. When I called to ask them to release the funds the Branch Manager was rude and short. If I conducted myself in that way with our clients I wouldn't have a job. She was then rude to my husband as well. We took our money out of there and went to another bank with people who are incredibly kind and helpful.

  I love this bank, I don't understand the bad reviews. The staff here is incredibly friendly and they know me by name just seeing my face in the drive thru camera. I don't know any other bank I've ever had that literally knew who I was and greeted me by name every time I stop by for a deposit. I haven't tried any other loans through them but I'm hoping to open an IRA with them soon and I'm confident that they will be just as willing to help as they are each time I visit
