  I had a very bad experience with Gene. He took payment and told me everything was taken care of and that he filed my taxes, but didn't. He would assure me that he was taken care of my tax payments through his multiple portals and he wasn't. He would be annoyed when I asked what payments were going where. I didn't think it was that bad until we were both on the phone with the NY tax department and they asked why he filed for an extension knowing it would not approved since it was filed late!! I had to pay close to 4k in penalties. Even the NY tax office told me I should take him to small claims court. Be careful.

  We filed Sandy's Federal, NYS and NY City tax returns and advised her both verbally and in writing that she needed to make estimated tax payments to New York City. For several years she had failed to make quarterly tax payments and repeatedly had large sums owed to all jurisdictions at tax time. We sought to have her run her business on a more disciplined fashion and repeatedly requested to allow us to provide payroll services to avoid self-employment and NYC taxes. She eventually agreed, however once we enrolled her in payroll services, she refused to login to the payroll system to see upcoming tax payments, yet complained about not having advance notice of payroll tax payments deducted from the corporation's checking account. She also had major difficulty grasping the notion that the business is an entity separate from the business owner and that the owner does not get to receive all of the business proceeds in their personal account. Further, she provided misleading information which grossly understated the volume of transactions for which we needed to account for with our bookkeeping services. Due to her dissatisfaction with having to make legally required tax payments and the fact that we were forced to raise our price once we saw that she had not 10 transactions per month as she stipulated but actually over 100 per month, she cancelled services with us and ceased communication. While it is unfortunate that she was faced with late payment penalties, her choice to cancel services and cease communication was her choice and beyond our control.
