      Yesterday I went into the Woodway branch of First National Bank of Central Texas. Ginger Tindell assisted in gathering the necessary paperwork to open a joint savings and checking account with my wife and was very pleasant. Because my wife is a Haitian citizen, we needed her valid green card and had to return the following morning. Upon our return we were presented with a form W-8BEN which the bank required us to complete on behalf of my wife. The very first instruction on the form stated "Do NOT use this form if: ...a resident alien individual." and referenced form W9. Tindell requested input from Gena Crawford who was extremely unfriendly (she would only speak by phone- not face to face even though she was in the branch). She stated they collect this information from everyone and would discard it later if it wasn't needed. She then demanded additional documentation including but not limited to my wife's passport social security card (with Homeland Security Stamp), etc. I told her apparently we were in the wrong bank. Crawford hung up without a word. We proceed to A REAL bank, Chase and established our accounts without a hitch. FOLLOW UP: After placing a call and leaving a message for Mr. Joe Barrow (Chairman and CEO), my call was quickly returned. Mr. Barrow was professional, personable and sincerely apologetic. He listened intently to my concerns and promised action on his end. I am confident that any future dealings with FNBCT will have a more positive outcome. Thank you Mr. Barrow.
