  Do not get a Reverse Mortgage until after you speak with Kent. This is the advice I will give anyone I love or care about in any way. I spoke to Kent a few days ago and he was amazing. After searching the internet and speaking with various “Mortgage Professionals” for weeks, I was so very confused. But, Kent was like a breath of fresh air because he was able to explain everything in easy-to-understand terms. Talking to Kent was like talking to a best friend in the Reverse Mortgage business. Even though my family and I live outside of his service area, Kent took the time to go over every detail with me step by step. He made sure I understood everything and he even showed me how to verify the information he gave me. Knowing he could never be compensated for the time he spent with me, I started jokingly referring to him as the man with angel wings. I know that sounds over the top, but it was truly from my heart.

  Thank you, Doris. I respect your willingness to suspend your disbelief long enough to learn the facts. There’s a lot of misinformation out there about reverse mortgages. When we talked, I think I shared one of my favorite sayings: If things you thought were true turned out not to be true, how soon would you want to know? Over the last 15 years, while helping people with reverse mortgages, two things seem true: 1) having money problems in retirement is not healthy and no fun, and 2) well-informed people tend to make better decisions and have greater peace of mind. The reason we care a lot about financial literacy is because we see educating people as our chance to make a small, positive dent in the universe. While I am only licensed in CA, AZ, CO, TX, and FL, I'm happy to talk to anyone about reverse mortgages. I believe home equity needs to be considered in the retirement planning conversation. Less financial distress leads to happier people and a happier world. Doris, I applaud your willingness to learn. You are going the right direction and I’m always happy to help where I can.   My wife and I have spent a considerable amount of time looking into securing a reverse mortgage. This recommendation doesn't address the considerable number of factors that go into that decision, but rather offers testimony to the excellence of the choice we made of advisors. We contacted more than a few, and the one that stood out for accurate information and support was Kent Kopen's Reverse Advisor. Securing a HECM is a big step, and it's crucial to have an ethical and experienced guide to help navigate the process. That's where Kent (and Dee) come in. Each phase was clearly explained and every requirement was met quickly and efficiently. The Reverse Advisor website is an excellent resource that provides thoughtful analysis about the topics surrounding reverse mortgages. The informational videos give an added dimension of depth and are helpful in simplifying the entire process. You would be making a smart choice to give Kent a call if you're considering a reverse mortgage. He has a solid base of knowledge, and an intuitive way of figuring out what is in the best interest of the client.
