  This rating is for the recent merger of BB&T with Sun Trust not a reflection on Truists employees. First the employees are awesome! As far as Truist as a corporation they are dreadful! Online transactions including transferring from one Truist account to another Truist account takes a insanely long time to clear. Depositing a check from an outside bank can take up to two weeks to clear. I feel as through Truist has to be the worst bank I have ever had to deal with in my 40+ years of dealing with the banking industry.

  This used to be a pretty good bank (when they were First Virginia). However, with the recent merger, it seems no one quite knows what they are doing nor is anything quick. After 50 years with this bank and having gotten a senior checking account when I retired, when I lost my checkbook, Truist would not offer me the same type of account. First, the checks for the new account had an error on them (it took 10 days to get the checks), then they wanted to charge me for the replacement checks and the replacement checks started at 201 instead of 101. Transferring funds from the old account to the new account took some days; for a while, the same funds appeared as available in both accounts. Trying to talk to anyone at their 800 number took forever; I waited for over 45 minutes, yet Truist wants to charge people for putting their money into this bank. Why don't they use the fees to hire more people?
