  I had a very bad experience with UFCU when I applied for a loan to buy a condo in Wingfield Springs, Sparks. I thought that since UFCU had a branch there that they would be experts in the local real estate market. I had a long escrow of 60 days, and all seemed to be going along well until almost a week before the closing date. Then, they informed me that they couldn't lend to me with the locked interest rate because there were litigations in the HOA (there are two in the area I was buying and no litigations in the condo association). Less than a week before closing, they offered me a loan at 1/2 percent more than had been locked for me. I refused, went to another lender and closed just one week late with a conventional loan. I felt like I was in a bait and switch operation , with conversations that seemed more like buying a used car, than dealing with a financial institution. Needless to say, my other financial business won't be coming to UFCU either.
