  I would like to give thanks to Marlene B. Sanders and her staff at Utah Morgage Loan Corp. For helping me get my dream home, this is the second time I have worked with Marlene and I will say she is a professional and very helpful threw the whole process she helped me finance my first home , and now the second home and I am wowed by the way she handles it all, I personally will recommend her to anyone that wants things done the right way , Thanks Marlene 🤠👍

  I had a frustrating experience here. Our application was a bit more complicated than average, but our loan officer assured us with their 35 years of experience in the industry that we'd be taken care of. We were pre-approved for a loan, and started to look at houses. After we went under contract to buy a home (for 100k less than our pre-approved purchase price) they said they couldn't give us a loan unless we increased our down payment from 20% to well over 50%. When I asked "why are we just finding out about this now?" they said they use a different set of standards for pre-approval vs actual approval, which seems like a strange policy to me. I understand that pre-approval is conditional and things can change, but I didn't expect it to be that extreme. In any case, a few hours later they backtracked and said they found more income on our tax returns that somehow they'd missed the first time around, so we could get the loan after all. Then they said we could only get the loan if we provided additional documentation of that income, but they were unable to tell us what specific documents they needed (and they already had every available document anyway). Later they did list a few specific things they wanted from us, including the business tax returns of one of our former employers, and the business tax returns of the investment firm managing our retirement savings, and obviously that wasn't going to happen. A significant number of other things they wanted remained vague, just "documentation." The only positive part of the experience was that our loan officer was alway polite and friendly, and easy to get in touch with. I'm not sharing their name because I'm honestly not sure how much of this was their fault. Maybe the in-house underwriters were partly to blame? Or something else? We've decided to try a different lender, and it looks like we'll be getting a significantly better interest rate with them anyway. If your application is totally straighforward these folks might do fine for you but if your case is even a little complex I suggest looking elsewhere.

  Ben Shoff was my loan officer who handled my entire loan process from application to closing in a very professional manner. I completed my own 25 year career in the mortgage industry a few years ago as Vice President of Mortgage Operations for an east coast bank and so my expectations were high. And i was never disappointed! Ben was always available to answer questions, receive documentation, and even brought me a couple of treats. The choice of the closing agent and the closing itself was excellent and Ben was present every step of the way! Congratulations to Utah Mortgage for employing such a true professional to represent their company!
