      I’m not going to lie I was worried after reading all the bad reviews. Yes my loan was a complicated one so it took a couple months to close but that was not a direct result of AmWest. My underwriting process was done in a timely manner with no issues at all. I honestly can say that so far my experience with AmWest has been great and I excited that my mortgage loan is through AmWest.

      AmWest is the absolute worst mortgage lender. DO NOT use them to fund your loans. Their underwriting process is handled by incompetent and inexperienced underwriters. The management is unresponsive and incompetent as well. They requested the borrower to provide proof of his ownership and we provided legal documents issued by both Federal (tax ID) and State issued documents (certificate of formation, good standing certificate, status report), bank signature card, and along with a letter from a CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) to clear the file and they still didn’t clear the file for closing. They went so far to claim that they couldn’t verify the EA’s address when it was clearly showed in the IRS website. The fact AmWest allows their underwriter to impose these unreasonable requirements was wrong to begin with. What worse is their absolute disregard for the legal documents they have in their possession to confirm the borrower’s legal ownership to his company is most disturbing. Federal and State harassment and discrimination laws exist to protect the consumers of mortgage services. A complaint will be filed against AmWest for their harassment and discriminatory practices against the borrower.

      Cost $995 to do appraisal, kinda expensive. The other company is around $500.
