      I had a checking account with $1,000 that was opened through a program with another company. I didn't need to use the money right away and couldn't withdraw all of it and close the account without incurring fees due to it being a new account. Well even though the phone rep said there wouldn't be any administrative fees or minimum balance fees, apparently the account went inactive after a month. When I checked on it 8 months later to close the account I found that there were $80.00 in inactivity fees that I wouldn't be able to reverse. Never using AFB again. Also not using Academy Bank (their sister bank) since they sent me to a branch location in person in this debacle and they weren't able to do anything either. EDIT: I followed up with a BBB complaint as well. Their corporate customer service followed up within the week and resolved the issue relatively quickly. Still frustrating that I had to go through all of that but good enough to bump up their star rating.
