  Tried to use my debit card to use my debit card on Saturday evening for an emergency home repair. It was declined twice, because the bank was having “maintenance”... I had plenty of funds, but could not access them nor reach a service representative to verify through a customer service person that my check would be good. BankNewport does not provide customer service for these times...they should. That’s my money. The bank’s maintenance should not get in the way of me paying for household emergencies. Shame on whoever thought this was a good idea. Terrible time to do this during a pandemic, as well. Update: March 7th 2022…Tried to purchase an item for $7.49 and my card was declined…again!! Meanwhile, I know I have well, well, well, over that amount in my checking. When I went to have a “chat” with a representative through the BankNewport app…my app told me that I entered my password incorrectly and locked me out as I was waiting for, apparently, nobody to assist me…THEN, I found myself unable to use the app and completely locked out!! This message was reinforced by an email by the bank…which instructed ME to call THEM and gave ME instructions on how I should sort out their mistakes…Just wow!! I don’t get paid to fix technical problems for institutions that don’t have their acts together. Already, between the ATMs and the debit cards, banks don’t do as much as they used to…They’re akin to self-self gas station owners who think they somehow deserve a gratuity for watching you pump your own petroleum, in my opinion. I am so upset right now.

  Very slow service Inside still not open when many other banks have opened up One teller working two drive up lines not the best idea
