  My husband and I were contacted by a mortgage rep about a VA loan. I told him that I don't think our credit scores are high enough to qualify but thanks for contacting me. He stating that they offered VA loans at starting scores of 550. So we set up a time to call. We spoke on the phone and he ran out credit reports and told us that we were pre-approved. He said he would send us a list of documents to finalize the process. We completed gathering all the documents and sent them the next morning. He stayed in contact until Monday morning, then I heard NOTHING for 2 days. I emailed him, left voicemails, and then emailed his supervisor. Eventually I called the 800 number for customer service. I was informed that he had been fired. Nobody contacted me, nobody replied to my emails, it wasn't until I reached out to them that i was told this. My loan was then transferred to a different rep who called and very rudely explained that we were in fact NOT pre-approved and I should have known better how the process worked. Through my crying I tried to explain to him that i had never done this and we had cancelled a vacation b/c we had thought we were approved. He never apologized until I told him I was not looking for a loan I just wanted him to understand what happened. He said "Well I have been doing this for 13 years I wouldn't have done it that" "Obviously the other guy didn't know what he was doing and that is why he was fired" "I am sorry you feel that way" I understand not being approved, but the way it was handled afterward, was very rude and without any type of remorse. Just extremely disappointed and honestly shocked with this whole experience. I just want others to be aware of what happened to me and my family so it doesn't happen to anyone else
