I'm so sick of this bank and their fee's they charge. I swear they're scamming people, extorting their money, or scheming them with the "overdraft protection" they offer. To me and the rest of the banking world, "overdraft protection" means that if you're trying to purchase something and the cost of said object is more then what's in your account. The transaction doesn't go through. Thus protecting your account from being overdrafted or so I thought... Lets say hypothetically that at 6:30 on the 14th of 2020 I deposited $260 in cash in my account through their ATM which had an existing $14.00 (not my only account just the oldest) and went home and purchased a few gaming packages in which there were several options to choose from. So I decided to purchase a few packs knowing I just deposited $260 and had an additional $14 in it and it's around 9pm now. So maybe it went through already. So when I woke on the 15th I looked at my account and to my surprise was negative $44.00. I then looked at the transactions knowing exactly what should be in there. Roughly $155.00 should of been leftover. I went through the transaction list and my cash deposit is still pending. I thought to myself "well ok, at the end of the business day on the 15th my cash deposit should go through and the bank will fix it accordingly." So I said to myself "I'm not gonna worry about tonight, that everything would be fixed in the morning. I woke up on the 16th and looked at the balance of my account. To my utter dismay I now have a total of $4.00. I decided to see what happened. I looked through my transactions and there are 5 overdraft fees for a whopping total of $150.00. Each overdraft fee was over $30 for 5 items that each cost under $15. I then proceeded to call customer service and explained " I've been with your bank for almost ten years now. Asked for a contested charge once and it was this past December. In which your bank decided that the charges were made by me, then decided to reverse the contested charge when the account was empty and then charge me an overdraft fee on top of it". I then asked for a supervisor and get put on hold. Immediately I say " wait I said I wanted a supervisor." She begins to imform me that there's nothing they can do on their end and that they sent an email to the branch manager and someone should be getting ahold of me momentarily. It's currently 9:30pm on the 16th and still no response from the branch. Going into there tomorrow and closing out this account unless they correct this. I've probably have paid over $5k in fees since I've been with this loan shark of a bank. UPDATE WILL FOLLOW As I said I would return with an update and here I am making a retraction. Though the customer service dispatcher from the 1-800 number on the back of the debit card lied to me and NEVER contacted the branch manager and probably didn't consult with the supervisor either. So I decided to call the branch manager myself and see if we had an issue or a solution. The 1st time I called I spoke with a very polite and courteous agent named Jan. She kindly explained that the manager of the bank just walked in and is already being bombarded and that if I gave her my number that she would get it too her and I should expect a phone call sometime today. To my surprise the branch manager called within an hour and was so kind and polite. She had a calming voice and quickly had already looked over my account and seen where the mistake was made. We talked like old friends. Something the call center doesn't give you. She claimed there was never any e-mail let alone a memo to even contact me from the call center. Then she informed me of certain policies and explained a solution I was very pleased with. She ultimately helped me out and reimbursed me most of my $ and explained how to avoid such further confusion in the end. I say this branch deserves the 4 star and the call center 0... Thank you greatly Miss Manager of First Midwest Bank Wilmington Illinois. I admit I forgot her name. I wanted to say Ally, but didn't want to make a mistake.
