  Love this bank and the service I get. My card has been compromised twice and they stopped it quickly both time then made sure the money that was used was back in my account way sooner than it was supposed to have been.

  I used First United for a construction loan and then the permanent mortgage loan. They were very slow to process anything. I was quoted 30 days to process the initial construction loan and it ended up taking 3 plus months which had a substantial negative impact. When refinancing into the permanent loan I was told we could lock in a rate up to 260 days in advance which seemed like a good thing. Near the end of construction the rates were low and I requested to lock and was told we were locked. When it came time to finalize the loan the rate was changed (much less than half of the 260 days later). We complained and the rate was adjusted back to the rate we were supposed to have. We had started processing a loan with another bank who was going to give us the rate we originally had but when FU agreed to adjust the rate back I stayed with them. I had been dealing with them up to this point and felt like I should give them the opportunity to keep my business if they were willing to make the effort. Finally the day before closing I get a disclosure and I see that point fees have been added (basically pre-paid interest to buy down your rate). So to get the rate I asked for, that we should have had from the beginning, and that I was going to get from a different lender, they charged me for points without telling me until the last minute (a large chunk of $). Very low integrity, sneaky behavior.

  Recently a very good friend of mine’s husband passed away. Her husband had a truck financed through this branch so when she went in to let them know what had happened and to find out information about the truck, the staff refused to give her any information whatsoever even though they had been married over 30 yrs! They stated they could not give her any information since her name was not on the account. Texas is a community property state so what they did was uncalled for! This is the worst bank ever and there is a reason they are called the FU bank! They try to screw people over every chance they get. The staff is very rude and unhelpful! There is NO way I would ever trust these people with my money!
