  I will not be utilizing Guild Mortgage again. My experience with the loan officer was not pleasant to say the least. I will not say the persons name, as I do not want to cause issues with this persons business. Started off great. The person was very friendly and interested in exploring my options. I have great credit, but recently went to self employed and was struggling to find loan officers willing to look at my options. This person got me pre-approved, but wanted to charge me about $7500 for closing costs, because he thought I was captive. I shopped him after I learned I would be paying my own closing costs. I found a young lender that’s was eager, and actually came out to be cheaper than Guild right off the bat. I asked each lender to send me their best numbers (totally confusing when looking at cost comparisons btw), and the younger lender had a better rate and was cheaper by about $300. With a suggestion of my realtor, we decided to stick with Guild as they have a reputation of being able to get the job done. I got the loan and purchased my house. I will not plan to refer business to this person, as I believe that honest prices and customer service is key to maintaining a business. Price gouging is not the way to take care of your clients. That being said, I could not give them a single star, as they accomplished what they set out to do, but I could not give them a higher rating as I was not happy with the whole process.
