  Refinancing a mortgage can be stressful, especially for the self-employed. Thankfully, we were able to work with Dane. Not only did he get us a better rate than the companies that claimed they had the best rate, he worked with us through the entire process. We had so many quirky little things come up, including a mistake our last lender made when we originally purchased the home. The stress would build. Then we would talk to Dane, and he would absorb that shock, give us helpful advice, and assure us we were on the right path. Adding a twist to the mix, we made it a horse race between Mutual of Omaha Mortgage (MOOM) and another popular lender; they made us fear choosing someone else, saying we would never be able to close at the rate MOOM promised. They were faster, but that was the only advantage. Here is what Dane was better at: 1. He got us a better rate. 2. He got us better closing costs, even though initially it was the other company that looked like the better deal. (It was almost comical to see, with each iteration of documents sent, the MOOM closing costs go down and the other lender's costs go up.) 3. Dane listened to our concerns and responded with real information instead of scare tactics. 4. He got it right the first time. Whereas the other company kept making little mistakes, which made for a flood of paperwork, as they kept sending out corrections. 5. When we got nervous because the other company was ready to close and was applying pressure--making us feel like we would miss out on the current low interest rates--Dane pushed hard to accommodate us. If we had NOT gone with Dane and MOOM, we would have closed sooner. But I'm quite certain we would have been sitting in a puddle of buyer's remorse, right now. Having faith in the consistently superior service we received from Dane means that we closed a few days later, but with a better deal and invaluable confidence that we backed the right horse.
