      When it was Point Loma Credit Union, branch in San Marcos that closed. It published bonus offer in Sunday Union-Tribune. Came in that week trying to open account for the bonus. Manager doubted me that there was such a thing, claimed nobody had told her about it and not to have seen it in the newspaper. Had to bring in saved copy from my paper AND wait for an hour while head office verified it with her on the phone to get a few measly bucks. Closed account out as soon as earned the $. Then it closed never to return to San Marcos. To this day offers essentially zero rates to depositors while inflation rages.
