I learned of the NeighborWorks program when I received a flyer in the mail from my city. It had a little bit of the 'too-good-to-be-true' vibe going on, but I thought, "what the heck? I'd be remiss not to look into it." I can't tell you how glad I am that I did! This was - hands down - the best (BEST!) lending experience I have EVER had. The individual who reached out initially (Fraynke) is a genuinely happy person who seems to have found her perfect career. She is pleasant, knowledgeable, responsive, and she made the process simple. She bent over backwards to get a hold of me before her OWN holiday weekend because she was so excited to share some good news with me! (As it turned out, going with the NeighborWorks program to replace our windows instead of going through the window company saved us over 60% each month. No kidding!!) We closed the loan with Marie, and her service was no less wonderful. Because of Covid, she made outdoor accommodations (even researching the weather ahead of time!), and had everything ready to go. The offerings of this program (interest rates, etc.) are what pulled me in, but the people working within this non-profit organization are what stay with me. I hope Fraynke and Marie and the other wonderful employees are celebrated within their teams and the company. I also hope that they continue to offer these loan packages to homeowners for a long time to come.

I was applying for a loan to fix somethings. After you full the paperwork out, pay the fee, then get all the bids for projects (which change after 30 days) or are not valid. Then all that goes to a couple people to look at. Then denied! Went though all that stress and to get all these bids for nothing. I sent out emails to the government and others to look into this process. Not worth the time

This review is specifically for NeighborWorks first mortgage products, which are required for the NeighborWorks LEAP Down Payment Assistance (DPA) Program. Character limits did not allow me to post my full detailed review, so please see my Facebook review if you're interested in why I gave them 1 star. Ultimately, I was VERY dissatisfied with the poor communication from my lender and I felt there were a lot of unnecessary challenges as a result of that. There were also many costs that were either not communicated to me at all or poorly explained. NeighborWorks staff in general were very pleasant and friendly, but unfortunately that doesn't erase all of the unnecessary difficulties in the mortgage process.

      Response from the owner

Hello Callie. I'm very sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with our communication. I would love to learn more about what made it difficult so that we can make sure that it doesn't happen again. It's good to hear that you had friendly exchanges with staff - hopefully the misunderstandings can be resolved. We hope you were able to meet your goals even if it was not with us.
