We have worked on occasion with Oxford Title over the years and never had any issues to speak of really, until now. I am a bit frustrated with them at this time, and again, with so many title agencies out there, why go with one you're not 100% happy with, right? Lesson learned, although, we didn't have a choice because the buyer picked them. We had what we were told was a "dry" closing with our Seller. Apparently there was confusion with the buyer funds and we were told they brought a check to closing instead of wiring the funds and that the title co would be mailing our commission and CD. It had been a couple of days, so I called the title co to inquire, and they said actually the funds WERE wired, and they mailed the check right after closing (which was at 11:00 a.m.). Imagine my frustration and surprise to find that a) not only were we misinformed about buyer funds, so why didn't we have a check at closing, but b) they just mailed the check regular ol standard snail mail, which in today's terms, means at least a week before receiving (thanks USPS). Clearly in this case, the title co should have overnighted our payment since this was not our fault at all. It was just all handled poorly this go round. I will definitely think twice for our clients in the future about using Oxford Title. Mattingly and CS Title are our top 2 choices and they have NEVER let us down and always taken care of us promptly.
